“Sarah Keeler Badger is a dancer, dance educator, writer and certified Pilates instructor who has performed in regional musicals, theme parks and with several ballet companies. Sarah studied classical dance at the Ballet San Antonio Academy and graduated from the North East School of the Arts with a double major in dance and musical theater. She also trained at The Ailey School and Broadway Dance Center in New York City. While in NYC, Sarah performed with In-Sight Dance Company and earned her B.A. in English and creative writing from Marymount Manhattan College. She left the city and founded the Houghton Movement & Arts Center in rural western New York in 2011 where she currently teaches. Along with her teaching duties, Sarah performs locally and contributes to arts and fitness publications such Dance Spirit magazine and Livestrong.com.
Sarah is an outspoken advocate for promoting positive body image, healthy living and eating disorder awareness in the dance world. She is in the process of editing and seeking a publisher for an an anthology tentatively titled Hunger Pointe: Dancers Speak Out on Weight, Body Image and the Quest for Perfection. She lives in western NY with her husband and one year old son.
